T30 INTERCLUB CHALLENGE
L.M.S.C v's NEWRY TRI CUP
The idea for this competition was the brainchild of Geoff McCracken from Newry and Myself.
The aim was to raise awareness and money for our charity,Transplant Sport N.I.
The aim of the charity is to encourage transplant patients to participate in sport and to promote the Organ Donor Register.
The rules were simple, swim as many lengths as possible in 30 minutes, the team with the most lengths wins the Swim Fit
trophy.
Secondary to this, but as it proved equally important to the ageing egos of many, was the trophy for best male and female performance.
This would be calculated by adding the number of lengths swam to half the person’s age.
The LMSC results were:
Best Overall Female - Gemma Lavery
Best Overall Male- Big 4 ½ fingers Francie
Club Result
Newry Tri – 1498 (Avg 71.33)
LMSC- 1458 (Avg 69.49)
I would like to thank all involved especially the Blackthorn Gift Shop for sponsoring the trophies for best overall male and female. Everybody swam their best and did LMSC proud.
We raised a total of £480 (Lurgan £260 and Newry £250)
We are planning to have another in the summer but in the open water and to continue this on in November and invite other clubs to join and to hope to have an annual open T30 challenge.
Many Thanks For Your Support.
